We utilize a rigorous, three-phase process to organize and structure our work and sequence project deliverables.

We customize our process to meet the specific needs and unique context of each client. This enables us to develop a deep understanding of you, your needs, and your objectives, and then develop and implement effective, comprehensive fundraising plans, strategies, and interventions.


Phase 1: Inquiry

During this phase, the Starrs Aligned team works with you to develop a deep understanding of your needs and objectives. We ask lots of questions, review materials, and conduct comprehensive, rigorous research and analysis. Specific activities and deliverables can include:

  • Analysis of fundraising activity and available data

  • Organizational capability assessment

  • Board assessment

  • Review of “inventory of needs”

  • Review of fundraising activities and programming

  • External benchmarking

  • Organizational culture assessment

Phase 2: Ideation

During Phase 2, the Starrs Aligned team draws on insights and data gathered in Phase 1 to develop specific, actionable recommendations, and design solutions customized to meet your needs and unique context. Specific activities and deliverables can include:

  • Optimization of existing fundraising approaches and assets

  • Development of organizational culture and design recommendations

  • Board development, expansion, and optimization

  • Development of fundraising campaigns

  • Creation of Major Gifts, Stewardship, and Donor Relations strategies and programs

Phase 3: Implementation 

During this phase, the Starrs Aligned team is your implementation partner. Based on your needs and capabilities, this can span a spectrum of involvement—from direct execution to a guiding, consultative role supporting your team as well as other partners. Specific activities and deliverables can include:

  • Campaign launch and execution

  • Coaching, teaching, and training

  • Implementation of organizational culture and design recommendations

  • Ongoing Board development, expansion, and optimization support

  • Event planning and design

  • Implementation of Major Gifts, Stewardship, and Donor Relations strategies and programs
